This is amazing!

Hello wizards, witches and muggles!

Have you ever been invited to a baby shower and always gotten stuck on what to bring as a gift? Well, it happened to me recently. I was invited to my friend’s Sydney baby shower, and since she’s also a fan of Harry Potter (but in a normal level, not like me 😅), I wanted to start inducting the little guy or girl to the world of Harry Potter as soon as possible. So I decided to search for amazing Harry Potter gift ideas for babies, but I soon realized there wasn’t anything online truly unique. Until the good folks at Mystic Quills decided to write an amazing blog post on the best and unique Harry Potter gift ideas for babies, which is really good!

After reading it from top to bottom and opening my wallet, I realized I now have way too many gifts (sorry, Sydney! He or she is going to be a potterhead!).

Fanfic Faves 🌟

This week, our favorite fanfics are going to be centered around the 8th year trope, one of my personal favorites!

  • The Standard you walk past by bafflinghaze - On returning to Hogwarts for their Eighth Year, Headmistress McGonagall decided to room Draco Malfoy and Harry Potter together. She may have hoped for a leading example of house unity; the other students fully expected insults and fights. But nothing happened.

That was, until Harry sleepwalked into Draco’s bed.

    • Tropes: Friends to Lovers, fluff, angst, roommates, slow build, drarry.

    • Available on AO3

  • All you want by senlinyu - Eighth Year at Hogwarts was supposed to be Hermione’s. And it is, just not in the way she expects. Omegaverse fic.

    • Tropes: omegaverse, alpha draco, omega hermione, protective draco, possessive draco, porn with plot, mutual pinning, dramione.

    • Available on AO3

  • An issue of consequence by faithwood - Draco has woken up in an alternate universe. Or he has woken up utterly insane. Nothing else can possibly explain why Harry Potter suddenly seems to think he's Draco's boyfriend. It’s a short fanfic.

    • Tropes: romance, mystery, humor, fluff, drarry.

    • Available on AO3

The Weekly Pensieve 🤯

For this week’s pensive, we bring a fact that you may not know about that happened during the making of the Harry Potter movies:

The Hogwarts House points hourglasses in the Great Hall were real, functional props — and they actually used thousands of individual beads for them. But here’s the twist: during filming, the Slytherin hourglass kept randomly breaking because the green beads were made of a heavier material than the others, causing stress cracks.

So while Gryffindor’s rubies and Hufflepuff’s topaz beads flowed smoothly, Slytherin’s emeralds would often jam or shatter the glass mid-scene, sending shards everywhere. The props department had to quietly rebuild the thing multiple times during production — and they even considered switching to plastic but were told it would “look too cheap.”

Quiz of the week 🧐

This week, we are going to give a super hard question, that even the hardcore potterheads have trouble with:

  • In Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, what is the name of the conductor of the Knight Bus who greets Harry and takes his fare?

Please reply to this email with your answer! And I will tell you if it is right or not.

✨ However, don’t go just yet!
